Dimitar Zapryanov
Born on January 27, 1960 in Opan, Stara Zagora region
Dimitar Zapryanov is one of the most titled athletes in the history of Bulgarian judo. Olympic runner-up, third in the world and winner of 3 medals at European championships. At the Olympics in Seoul '88, he is one step away from the podium - fifth. Silver medalist from the Druzhba tournament in 1984, which replaced the Olympic Games due to the boycott of the socialist camp.
Winner of 4 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals from the "Liberation" tournament. In 2001 he was named the best judoka in Bulgaria for the past century by the Bulgarian Judo Federation.
